​What is the REBOOT Study?​​

The REBOOT study aims to measure a wide variety of factors that are thought to influence how much weight people lose in a behavioral weight loss program that has been well-studied and is already known to be effective.

Will I get the treatment?

Yes, ALL participants who enroll in this study will receive the same 6-month​ behavioral group-based weight loss program​

​What does the program involve?

This study​ has two parts:

  • Individual assessment visits in months 1, 3 & 6, which include:

    • In-person visits to meas​​ure your height and weight and complete surveys

    • Wearing a physical activity tracker for 7 days

    • Completing surveys on your smartphone for 7 days

  • Group-based weight loss treatment sessions

    • 16 sessions that last about an hour

    • Sessions take place at Rush and are led by trained health experts​

​What is the time commitment?

  • 6 hours of attending assessment visits and completing mobile surveys on your smartphone

  • 16 hours for the weight loss program sessions

​Will I be paid?

  • Participants can earn up to $340 if they complete all of the study visits

  • Parking is also paid for at all study visits at the research center

What is the purpose of the study?

To find out why some people lose more weight in behavioral obesity treatment programs than others.​​​​
